Saatchi & Saatchi Moscow launched a stunning ad campaign for the Shchusev State Museum of Architecture, ‘Discover The Full Story’, to encourage more visitors to the museum. The collection reflects the thousand-year history of Russia’s architectural heritage using three symbolic buildings in the city. The ads beautifully illustrate that there’s more to the story than meets the eye.

Emerging Designers 2012

It’s always fun to see what young designers beginning their careers are creating. The Art Institute of Sacramento’s Portfolio Show on September 20 allowed recent grads to showcase their talent, creativity and inspiration for prospective employers and those of us just needing a fresh perspective. (Click on their name to learn more.)

Mercy Carissa Mercy’s playful use of typography and a delicious color palette brings a trendy refresh to an old favorite for a redesign challenge. Her portfolio is a delectable mix of brand identity, page layout, and conceptual development.

Serena Evans Serena’s update of The Save the Music cause was just one of the many redesigns in her impressive portfolio. Serena describes herself as “motivated, detail oriented and eager to learn” and has a passion for layout and branding design.

Kory Kolvig As an avid album collector and music aficionado, Kory designed an eye-catching album cover with a simple, but compelling use of color, type and imagery. The LP Jacket was designed as an alternate to The Naked and Famous‘ debut “Passive Me, Aggressive You.”

Felysha Calagui Felysha credits her family for her creative side that includes crafts, drawing and interior design. Her booth included print work as well as a handcrafted piece made from multicolor twisted wire spelling out her name.

Stephanie Lisuk Stephanie’s bright and bold work reflects her personality and interest in social issues. In the piece shown, she pays homage to ’80s “bad boy” designer and social activist Tibor Kalman (1944-1999) with a limited color palette and bold lettering.

Rikki Morehouse Rikki’s studied approach to her projects shows, whether it’s packaging for 100% natural pet food or designing a book on Korean letterforms explaining “type family cross language translation.” Her thoroughly researched book, A Study of Korean Letter Form Aesthetics, handles a complex subject beautifully and is worthy of any type lover’s coffee table.
Congratulations and good luck to them all!
