Marcus Rodriguez: Memory Weaver
March 14, 2013 § 1 Comment
Instagram is famous for having unflattering pictures of users half-eaten lunches, fast food explorations and numerous Starbucks runs. But serious photographers also share their photos there as does Marcus Rodriguez, @memoryweaver. His beautifully lit and carefully crafted still-life compositions are a joy to behold. He also offers lengthy descriptions of his pieces and the techniques he used to capture the images. (He shoots with a Canon 6D and edits in Snapseed on an iPad.)

I am so happy and honored to receive this “Best Moment Award” because every moment does matter and living in the moment is the best gift we can give ourselves to truly enjoy and embrace life at its fullest. Thank you to my followers who inspire me to open my eyes to different viewpoints, to see things differently and appreciate life in all it’s diversity. Here are just a few blogs I enjoy–would love to include them all!
San Francisco Timelapse Meditation
March 7, 2013 § 1 Comment
Photographers love San Francisco because of its serene allure–it’s hills offer sweeping vistas, the bay engulfs it on three sides allowing for reflection and its bridges quietly accent it’s natural beauty. It may be a bustling, metropolitan city, but when viewed from a distance it leaves a peaceful, reflective impression. Sacramento photographer Bryan Allo has captured its grace in a meditative timelapse project–requiring hours spent on San Francisco’s peaks, capturing all of its special magic.

Famous Artists’ Studios
January 3, 2013 § Leave a Comment
I always wanted to live like an artist–whatever that means. I love the idea of waking up in my studio and painting all day. These images of artists studios were my inspiration (especially the one of Frida Kahlo, above, painting in bed).
From top to bottom, Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock and Roy Lichenstein. If you’re interested in seeing more, go here.
A Wintry Delight: Sun & Light Pillars
December 20, 2012 § Leave a Comment
Sun-pillars are a column of light appearing to extend up from the Sun caused by flat fluttering ice-crystals reflecting sunlight from the upper atmosphere.
Light pillars form during freezing temperatures from flat fluttering ice crystals that form near the ground in a form of light snow. They then reflect ground lights in columns not unlike a Sun-pillar. This light pillar, below, was taken in Fairbanks, Alaska. The light surrounding an ice skating rink gave the light pillars the colorful array.
