Bodie, CA: Eerie Beauty of a Ghost Town

There is something about these forgotten towns, frozen in time, their history etched on the rusted vehicles, shabby buildings and dusty rooms. The people are long gone, but their presence is preserved in the ruins.

Bodie is an original gold mining town from the late 1800’s. What’s left today stands in a state of “arrested decay” and is maintained by the California State Parks System, who took over the town in 1962 to make it a State Historic Park.
