JR (creator of Inside Out Project) collaborated with Cuban-American artist José Parlá to honor 25 elders who lived through the Cuban revolution, in the latest installment of “The Wrinkles of the City.” The mural installation in Havana was undertaken for the Havana Biennale. Parlà, who lived through the Cuban revolution himself, uses calligraphy and the decaying texture of the walls to embellish his painted portraits. They tell the culturally rich stories of Cuba and its elders etched in its crumbling buildings.
