Back in the 40s, 50s and 60s, San Francisco had a tradition of showering the streets in the Financial District with calendar pages on New Year’s Eve. It looked like a blizzard hit–great for a city that never gets any snow!!
The tradition ended because it was a mess to clean up. It probably would have died out anyway because none of the new skyscrapers have windows that open!
