This image (and others, see link below) are taken by ISS Expedition 31 Flight Engineer Don Pettit. He takes many 30-second exposures and stacks them to produce a composite image equal to a single integration time of 10-15 minutes.

The wonder of the universe gave a rousing performance this past weekend. Those lucky enough and persistent enough were able to capture stunning photos of the Orionid meteor shower’s dramatic night time display.
If you missed it the next major meteor shower to light up the night sky will be the annual Leonid meteor shower in mid-November. It will peak on Nov. 17.
